Blocking ads in Internet Explorer 9 and 10

Those of you who use Internet Explorer 9 and/or 10 may have heard about "Tracking Protection" or "Tracking Protection Lists". Well, this is going to show you a practical use for it, Blocking Ads using the Fanboy.co.nz Adblock and Tracking Protection Lists(to stop unwanted tracking cookies). And if you want to remove the block, how to unblock the ads.

• Blocking Ads

  • AdBlockPlus is available for IE10! It DOES NOT work on devices such as the Surface RT, but it does on the Surface Pro. The other methods here do work on the Surface RT, and still block MOST ads LINK
    
    
  1. Click Here. Then a menu that looks like Fig 1 will come up.

  2. Click "Add List"
  3. Now you should be done!

• Blocking Tracking Cookies

  1. Click Here and a box that looks like Fig 2 will come up

  3. You should be done!
• Unblocking Ads
  1. Click the little Gear icon up in the upper right corner of your Internet Explorer window.(The one pointed to in Fig 3)

  2. Once you click it, a menu (shown in Fig 4) will come up.

  3. Click Manage add-ons. A window that looks like Fig 5 will appear.

  4. Click "Tracking Protection" in the "Add-on Types" area. The window will change to look something like Fig 6.

  5. Click on the list you want to remove. Ones added here would be "Fanboy Adblock list" and "Fanboy Tracking List"
  6. Click the Remove button.
